INDICATIONS
- Skin Infections: It is highly effective against superficial pyoderma, wounds, abscesses, and deep skin infections primarily caused by susceptible strains of Staphylococcus species.
- Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Used to manage lower and upper urinary tract infections, including cystitis and nephritis.
- Respiratory Tract Infections: Indicated for managing bacterial respiratory infections, including bronchitis or pneumonia.
- Post-Surgical & Wound Care: Frequently prescribed to prevent or treat bacterial infections following surgical incisions, punctures, or animal bite wounds.
ADMINISTRATION
- Method: Administer by mouth. Because these tablets (often sold as Lixen Palatab or Rilexine) are specially formulated to be palatable. Alternatively, you can hide the tablet in a small piece of food.
- Dosage: The standard dose is typically 22 mg per kg (10 mg per pound) of body weight, usually given twice a day (every 12 hours).
- With or Without Food: These tablets can be given on an empty stomach or with a meal.
