Virbac LIXEN (cephalexin) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic formulated for intrauterine administration in cattle, indicated for bacterial reproductive tract infections and postpartum complications.

INDICATIONS

• Endometritis: Inflammation of the inner lining of the uterus, which commonly impacts bovine fertility.
• Metritis: Severe, deeper bacterial infection of the uterine wall, typically occurring shortly after calving.
• Pyometra: Accumulation of pus within the uterine cavity accompanied by a persistent corpus luteum.
• Bacterial Uterine Infections: General non-specific bacterial contamination of the bovine uterus.
• Postpartum Reproductive Complications: Clean-up care and infection prevention following a difficult calving or retained placenta.

ADMINISTRATION

• For oral administration.
• Preparation: Mix the 4 g dose of powder with exactly 60 ml of the sterile water provided in the package.
• Mixing: Shake the bottle vigorously until a uniform suspension is formed.
• Route: The full 60 ml prepared suspension must be infused directly into the uterus.
