Virbac VIRCLOS (closantel) oral solution is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic indicated for the control of internal and external parasites in cattle, sheep, and goats.

INDICATIONS

• Liver Flukes: Eradication and control of both adult and immature liver flukes (Fasciola spp.).
• Gastrointestinal Roundworms: Treatment and control of blood-sucking nematodes and nematodes such as Haemonchus (wireworm), Trichostrongylus, and hookworms.
• Ectoparasites: Targeted control of certain external parasites such as lice, mites, ticks, and sheep keds.
• Production-Related Symptoms: Helps alleviate symptoms caused by heavy parasitic loads, such as poor growth rates, “bottle jaw” (submandibular edema in sheep), bloody diarrhea, and general weight loss.

ADMINISTRATION

• Route: Oral drenching only. Use a calibrated drenching gun or oral syringe to ensure the solution is deposited into the back of the pharyngeal area, taking care not to injure the animal’s mouth or throat.
• Dosage for Sheep & Goats: Typically dosed at 1 ml per 10 to 15 kg of body weight, depending on whether you are treating liver flukes/ectoparasites or other gastrointestinal endoparasites. Always consult the specific label or your veterinarian for the exact strength of your formulation.
• Dosage for Cattle: Dosages also generally follow the 1 ml per 10 to 15 kg rule, depending on the target parasite (e.g., 1 ml/10 kg for Fasciola and ectoparasites, or 1 ml/15 kg for other endoparasites)
