Virbac VIRBAMEC SUPER (ivermectin + clorsulon) is a broad-spectrum, endectocide used to control internal and external parasites in beef and and non-lactating dairy cattle.

INDICATIONS

• Liver Flukes: Targets adult Fasciola hepatica.
• Gastrointestinal Roundworms: Controls adult and immature (L4) stages, including inhibited Ostertagia spp. and various Cooperia, Haemonchus, and Trichostrongylus species.
• Other Parasites: Treats lungworms (Dictyocaulus), eye worms, cattle grubs (Hypoderma), sucking lice, and mange mites (Psoroptes, Sarcoptes).

ADMINISTRATION

• Administered strictly via subcutaneous injection.
• Standard Dosage: 1 mL per 50 kg (110 lbs) of body weight.
• Injection Site: Inject under the loose skin behind the shoulder.
• Volume Splitting: If the total calculated dose exceeds 10 mL, you must divide the dose and inject it into two separate sites to minimize localized pain and tissue discomfort
• Determine accurate weight: Weigh the animal or use a weigh band to avoid underdosing, which fosters parasite resistance.
• Prepare equipment: Use a clean, automatic or single-dose hypodermic syringe equipped with a sterile 17-gauge, ½-inch (15–20 mm) needle.
• Temperature check: If the solution is cold (below 5°C / 41°F), it becomes highly viscous and difficult to draw or push. Gently warm the bottle in your hands or warm water to roughly 15°C (59°F) before trying to inject it.
• Inject: Securely restrain the animal. Tent the loose skin behind the shoulder, insert the needle fully parallel to the animal’s body to stay in the subcutaneous layer, and deliver the dose.
• Massage: Briefly massage the injection site right after pulling the needle out to evenly distribute the thick solution and prevent leaking.
