Virbac HITEK oral solution (ivermectin) is a broad-spectrum endectocide used to treat and control internal and external parasites in sheep, goats, poultry, and small animals.
INDICATIONS
Internal Parasites (Nematodes / Worms)
- Gastrointestinal worms: Treatment for various stomach and gut worms (e.g., Haemonchus, Trichostrongylus, Ostertagia).
- Poultry worms: Effective against Ascaridia (large roundworms) and Capillaria (hairworms).
- Lungworms: Controls parasitic lung infections in livestock.
- Eye worms and skin worms: Targets filarial worms that migrate to the eyes or skin tissues.
- Mites & Parasitic Dermatitis: Controls skin inflammation and mange caused by various mites.
- Ticks & Lice: Assists in the suppression and control of external infestations.
Small Animal Uses (Off-label/Extra-label)
- In dogs and cats, the active ingredient is frequently used to prevent heartworm disease and treat stubborn skin issues (mange, scabies, ear mites)
ADMINISTRATION
- Oral Dosing: It can be administered directly into the animal’s mouth using a specialized drenching tool.
- Via Drinking Water: For flock or herd treatment, the solution can be measured and mixed into the animal’s drinking water, ensuring all animals consume enough of the treated water.
- Dosing Accuracy: Dosing is strictly based on body weight. For example, the typical dosage for sheep and goats is often 2.5 ml of Hitek oral liquid per 10 kg of body weight (equivalent to 200 micrograms of ivermectin per kg).
