Virbac VIRBAMEC-L (ivermectin & clorsulon) is a broad-spectrum endectocide used for the treatment and control of internal and external parasites in cattle and sheep.
INDICATIONS
Internal Parasites (Endoparasites)
Virbamec L provides high efficacy against both adult and immature (larval) stages of gastrointestinal nematodes and respiratory worms:
- Gastrointestinal Roundworms: Treats and controls Wireworm (Haemonchus spp., including inhibited larvae), Brown Stomachworm (Ostertagia ostertagi), Bankruptworm (Cooperia spp.), Hookworm (Bunostomum spp.), Nodular worm (Oesophagostomum spp.), and Large-mouthed Bowelworm.
- Lungworms: Effectively treats and controls Dictyocaulus species in both cattle and sheep.
External Parasites (Ectoparasites)
The injection moves through the bloodstream to target several skin and tissue-dwelling parasites:
- Sucking Lice & Mange Mites: Treats infestations to relieve itching and improve skin condition.
- Sheep Scab: Indicated for the control and elimination of sheep scab mites (Psoroptes ovis).
- Cattle Screwworms: Kills active screwworms at the time of injection and protects against future strikes for up to two weeks.
- Ticks & Parasitic Pests: Controls blue ticks (Boophilus spp.) when administered consistently every 21 days, and controls sand tampans for up to 3 days after treatment.
- Nasal Bots: Controls all larval stages of the nasal worm (Oestrus ovis) in sheep.
ADMINISTRATION
- Administered via subcutaneous injection only.
- Administration Site: Administer under the loose skin in front of or behind the shoulder for cattle, and behind the shoulder, in the axilla (under the foreleg), or on the inside of the thigh for sheep.
- Site Management: To reduce local discomfort or swelling, if a high volume is required, split the injection between two separate sites.
- Application Technique: In woolly sheep, ensure the needle has completely penetrated both the wool and the skin.
