INDICATIONS

in Dogs :
    • Bacterial Skin Infections (Pyoderma): The primary, FDA-approved indication is the treatment of secondary superficial bacterial pyoderma caused by susceptible strains of Staphylococcus pseudintermedius. It is also widely licensed internationally for deep pyodermas.
    • Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Used to treat infections of the urinary tract, including cystitis (bladder inflammation) and nephritis (kidney inflammation) caused by susceptible organisms.
    • Respiratory and Digestive Infections: Depending on regional veterinary registrations, it can be indicated for treating susceptible infections of the respiratory and digestive systems.

In Cats :
  • Skin and Subcutaneous Infections: Indicated for treating cutaneous and subcutaneous bacterial infections, such as infected wounds and abscesses.
  • Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Licensed internationally for treating feline cystitis and nephritis.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Administration: Tablets are generally given orally twice a day. The chewable formulations are designed for high palatability to ensure your pet actually consumes the full dose.
  • Contraindications: Do not use in animals with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to cephalexin, penicillins, or any other beta-lactam antibiotics.
  • Possible Side Effects: The most common adverse reactions include vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, and lethargy.
